Holywell Town FC are please to announce their first new signing of the season, and it's a much welcomed return of former crowd favourite Steve Lewis

"I'm delighted to have signed back to Holywell Town, and if am honest, I didn't want to leave when Bangor City came in for me last time!"
- New Signing Steve Lewis

Lewis had a successful spell at Halkyn Road a couple of years ago before his move to Bangor City during the January transfer window in 2016. Following his move from Bangor, Lewis had spells last season at Droylsden before moving to Rhyl.

The news will be a great boost for the Wellmen ahead of the new season, and will see Lewis team up with Shaun Tuck who he has known for years

Manager John Haseldin couldn't hide his delight at the new signing, and is made up Lewis has decided to put pen to paper with the Wellmen. He added, "I am delighted that he agreed to sign for us again.

He is an important player for Holywell and obviously he's a goalscorer and isn't short of offers. I think to get the best out of him he's got to be happy, and I know he will be now he's has come back home.

Its a massive boost for the club having Steve on board and I'm looking forward to working with him again next season."

Lewis was equally as pleased with his move back to Halkyn Road and added, "I'm delighted to have signed back to Holywell Town, and if am honest, I didn't want to leave when Bangor City came in for me but at that time, certain circumstances made the decision for me but at the same time I don't regret it as I had a good couple of months with Bangor. The fans was great, the players and the management all made me feel welcome I went in to do a job and done it before leaving.

Since then I've went on to play for Droylsden and Rhyl and never really settled at either club, it was strange at Rhyl, fans was class and I thought I should of been playing but wasn't and I've never been in that situation before. So I tried to get myself into the team, I did so but it was already too late by that time, and Rhyl was always going down to the Huws Gray Alliance.

Now I am back, I see it as unfinished business! I scored 13 goals in 18 appearances last time around and we were in a healthy position when I left, and after looking at results, Holywell shown that on a low budget the players are as good as any in the league and am coming back now with the aim of improving the 5th position they have finished in the past 2 seasons.

I know the players now and what they are capable of so hopefully with my experience I can help the team achieve what we want. Since leaving I've been in constant contact with Johnny, we spoke most days and when I became a free agent again, he wanted me back, and as a player it's always nice to feel wanted and since day 1, I've had that from the lads, the management and the fans. I had a couple of offers to sign elsewhere but my heart was telling me to sign here. Am glad I have and now just want to get fit and get going. At Holywell, it's not about money, it's about lads who fight for each other and play with the enjoyment that's a major factor for me. I want to play my own game and enjoy the game again. I lost my way with it lately and football became tedious, just something I had to do instead of what I wanted to do.

So second time around, as I've said, it's unfinished business and time to go and enjoy my football again for the years I've got left and there's no better place to do that than at Holywell. The hard work starts now and I'm going to continue! One thing I will say is that I am grateful for being given the chance to come back and do what I do best and that's to play football. This time around am hoping to hit the ground running in terms of goals. I didn't score in my first couple of games last time and if you ask any striker, goals is what gives us confidence and I am low on that now, but hopefully I can get that back and get the winning ways back with Holywell Town and I can't wait to link up with one of my oldest football mates in Shaun Tuck who I've known for years. All there is to say is......Roll on August!"

The Club are made up with Steve's decision to return for a second spell at Halkyn Road, and we can't wait to see him back amongst the goals in a red and white shirt. Further new signings will be announced in due course.

Welcome back Steve......The Beast is back!
