It was a glorious Saturday afternoon and the Wellmen welcomed neighbours Flint Town United to the Achieve More Training Stadium.
The Wellmen got the game underway and won an early corner, a great ball into the box is partially cleared and falls to Dave Forbes but his effort flies over the bar. The visitors win a free kick with just over 5 minutes played, the ball is crossed into the box but the visitors striker fails to connect properly and the ball goes out for a goal kick.
The Next chance fell to the visitors, a high ball into the box sees keighan Jones and the striker rise for the ball, Jones punches clear and falls to the floor under the challenge. The ball falls to another Flint player who shoots goalwards, but Jones raises a hand and blocks the ball before it falls to another Flint player who shoots the ball out for a goal kick.
Ilan ap gareth next goes close for Town but his effort from outside the area goes over the bar, then a Danny Andrews free kick is heading for the bottom corner but takes a wicked deflection and goes out for a corner which comes to nothing. On the stroke of half time, a chance for the visitors, the striker bursts forward and in a one on one with Keighan Jones, his effort is saved by Jones and the ball trickles past the far post and out for a corner, and from the resulting corner, a header by a Flint player flies wide of the post.
The score was goalless at the break as the lads went off for the half time interval.
The second half got underway and Town nearly broke the deadlock, the ball falling for Luke Wiltshire but his effort was blocked for a corner. Dave Hayes climbs well to get his head to the ball but his header flies past the keeper's right hand post.
Almost immediately, the visitors take the lead, they win a penalty which the stiker converts despite Keighan Jones getting a touch to the ball. Shortly afterwards, Flint increased their lead, a cross finding the striker at the far post who slots the ball home.
Tom Bibby nearly reduced the arrears but his shot flew over the bar then Jake Cook went close, turning well and his shot was blocked by the defender. The Wellmen win a penaltya few minutes later but Danny Andrews sees his spot kick saved well by the Flint Town United keeper. In the final few minutes, Dave Hayes has a header saved well by the keeper which turns out to be the last chance for the wellmen before the referee blows for full time.
