The Wellmen fell to a 2-0 loss at home to Denbigh Town

The game got underway and the visitors took a very early lead, Owen Davies picking the ball and slotting past Ryan Woods with the Wellmen looking for the offside flag. The Wellmen were grateful for goalkeeper Ryan Woods with 5 minutes on the clock as he saved well again from Davies.
The Wellmen were pressing forward but weren’t firing on all cylinders, and with ten minutes played a good ball by Morgan Murray to the far post but no one was there to attack the ball. The Wellmen were having a good spell of pressure, a good play by Beau Cornish sees his shot deflected to Brady McGilloway but his low shot is saved by Aaron Jones. More good play by the Wellmen and with twenty minutes played, Jake Roberts fed the ball through to Jake Roberts but his turn and shot went inches wide. On 27 minutes, the Wellmen won a free kick on the edge of the box, Jake Roberts stepping up to take and his effort is deflected for a corner. From the corner, Roberts gets up well and heads goalwards but Jones saves well.
It was all Wellmen by now and Danny Andrews effort gets blocked then on a rare chance, the visitors go close but but Iwan Roberts fires well wide of Woods’ goal. The Wellmen then went close, Jake Roberts picks the ball up inside the box, he cuts inside and fires in a shot which hits the side netting. With game getting close to half time, Cornish finds Jamie Breese with a great ball, but the ball seems to stick to his feet and he was unable to get his shot off, then moments later Nathan Brown fires wide for Denbigh.
The second half got underway and a few minutes in, Morgan Murray runs in on goal then Aaron Jones is saved well by Aaron Jones, then a great ball through by Cornish to Gareth Evans and his shot is again saved really well by Jones. With 57 minutes on the clock, Jones again saves well, this time off Breese’s shot then Denbigh’s first real chance of the half came on the hour mark but Ryan Woods saves well and tips the ball over the bar off Iwan Roberts effort.
Owen Davies then is put in on goal and with only the keeper to beat, he puts it over the bar. Aaron Jones is out again to clear the ball with the onrushing Jake Roberts ready to pounce from Breese’s through ball. With Town pressing, the visitors caught the Wellmen on the break and Sam Duffy was in but he blasted the ball over when in a good position. Ryan Woods was then called into action and pulled off a great save to deny Iwan Roberts. Harrison Bellis then put the ball into the net but the assistant referee’s flag was up for off side, then, with the game in injury time, Denbigh Town caught us on the break and Sam Duffy burst forward and he fires past Woods to double the lead and seals the points for the visitors.
