The second half got underway and the Wellmen made a good start with Breese causing problems up front. The first real chance of the second half came with around 12 minutes played, a great ball to Ilan Ap Gareth on the edge of the box and his fierce volley was destined to hit the back of the net but substitute goalkeeper James McHarrie pulled off a great save to tip his effort over the bar. It was all Holywell by now and moments later, Luca Hogan could have capped his home debut with a goal but his header from a great ball in by McGilloway went inches wide.
As the game entered the final quarter of an hour, Town were still creating chances but unable to double their lead. Good play on 77 minutes saw Breese doing well inside the box, he lay the ball off to Gareth Evans but his shot was saved by McHarrie, then the visitors went close as Connor Littler’s header hit the crossbar. Breese was then put in by MArk Winslade but he was unable to get his shot on target then Town grabbed the winner from the penalty spot.
Morgan Murray did well down the left, he got into the penalty area and was brought down by Aled Bellis who was shown the red card for his second booking of the afternoon. The referee pointed to the spot and Breese stepped up and smashed the ball home to give Town the points.
As the game entered injury time, a bad tackle by Scott McHarrie saw him get a straight red card and soon after, the referee blew for full time and it was Holywell Town who came out with the points and the victory. The win keeps Town in 3rd place and now 6 points ahead of Buckley Town who remain in 4th place. The Wellmen will be looking to pick up another three points on Friday as they make the journey to Prestatyn Town.
