The Wellmen made a good start with plenty of possession but were unable to test Lewis Dutton in the Gresford goal. The First real chance of the game fell to the visitors with around quarter of an hour on the clock as the ball fell to Joseph Nelson and his looping shot saw Shaun Pearson having to tip the ball over for a corner which came to nothing.
The game ebbed and flowed with Town looking to open the scoring but were unable to find a way past the Gresford defence, and Pearson again had to be alert with 25 minutes on the clock to save from Charlie Mann.
As the game entered the final 5 minutes of the half, Town had their best chance of the half. Jake Cooke got the ball to Jamie Breese, he controlled and passed the ball to Brady McGilloway who’s shot is tipped over for a corner by Dutton. A minute or so later, another chance fell to Town, Brady McGilloway made a great run into the box, skipped past the challenges of a couple of defenders before passing to Cooke but he was unable to get his shot off before ethe referee blew for half time.
The Second Half got underway and the first chance fell to Jake Roberts, who got a shot on target but the keeper did well to save Roberts’ effort. Roberts again had another chance later on, getting on the end of Miles Hart’s cross but his chance flew over the bar. Roberts then became the provider, wining the ball and running forward to the edge of the box, his cross was a little to hard for the onrushing Jamie Breese where a touch would have steered the ball home. Gresford also had chances, on 79 minutes as Charlie Edge’s free kick hit the post.
As the game entered the final few minutes, Town threw everything at the Gresford Goal, looking for a late winner but the chances they had went begging and both teams had to settle for a point as the referee blew for full time.
